eFoiling, also known as electric hydrofoiling, is an exciting water sport that combines the thrill of surfing with cutting-edge electric technology. At Opua Adventures, eFoiling offers a unique experience where riders glide smoothly above the water’s surface on a specially designed board powered by an electric motor.
How Does eFoiling Work?
An eFoil board is equipped with a hydrofoil—a wing-like structure mounted on a mast beneath the board—that lifts the rider above the water as the board gains speed. The electric motor, controlled by a handheld wireless remote, powers a propeller attached to the hydrofoil. When the motor is engaged, it propels the board forward, allowing the hydrofoil to generate lift and elevate the rider above the water, reducing drag and enabling a smooth, almost silent ride.
The rider controls speed and direction with the remote, making eFoiling accessible to beginners while still offering a thrilling experience for advanced riders. Because the board hovers above the water, riders experience less resistance and can enjoy a unique sensation of flight over the waves.

Not at all! eFoiling is one of the easiest water sports to pick up, even if you’ve never tried surfing or wakeboarding. The electric motor gives steady power, making it easier to balance and ride. At Opua Adventures in Sarasota, many of our guests learn to “fly above the water” in their very first session. No experience? No problem!
Yes, but you should feel comfortable in the water with a life vest. Our instructors are trained in water safety, and we stay in shallow, calm areas during lessons. Seabobs are especially great for those less confident in open water.
Falling is part of learning and actually quite fun! The water around Sarasota is warm and beautiful. You’ll be wearing a life jacket for safety, and our instructors are always nearby. The eFoil automatically stops when you fall, and getting back on is easy with practice.
We operate in beautiful locations around Sarasota Bay, primarily at New Pass and Bird Key. These locations offer crystal clear waters, stunning views, and perfect conditions for learning. The exact location is provided the night before or day of your adventure based on weather and water conditions.
Our eFoil adventures are 90 minutes total, which includes beach instruction, water training, and independent flying time. This gives you plenty of time to learn the basics and experience the thrill of flying above water.
We closely monitor Sarasota weather and will contact you if conditions aren’t ideal. You’ll have the option to reschedule or receive a full refund—your choice. Safety always comes first.

Seabobs are sleek and powerful underwater scooters that propel you through the water like a dolphin! They have intuitive controls and varying speed options, allowing you to dive, surface, and explore underwater with ease. You simply hold on and steer – the Seabob does all the work!
Yes! Seabobs are perfect for ages 10 and up. We provide comprehensive safety instruction and high-quality goggles. Children must be comfortable in water and have basic swimming ability. Life jackets are available if desired, and we stay in areas where you can stand if needed.
Yes! We provide free delivery to Siesta Key Beach (Access 5) and Lido Beach. We bring the Seabob, safety equipment, and instruction right to you. For other locations, we offer custom delivery for an additional fee. This convenience is part of what makes our service special.
Absolutely! Seabobs are perfect for sharing. Many families and groups take turns, allowing everyone to experience the underwater adventure. The 60-minute session gives multiple people plenty of time to explore. We can also provide multiple Seabobs for larger groups.
For safety and optimal experience, we recommend staying in shallow to moderate depths (typically 3-15 feet). The crystal-clear waters around Siesta Key and Lido Beach provide excellent visibility at these depths, and you’ll see plenty of marine life!
Just bring swimwear, a towel, and sunscreen (reef-safe preferred)! We provide high-quality goggles, life jackets (if desired), and all necessary safety equipment. The Seabob and instruction are included in your adventure.
Booking & Pricing
We recommend booking 2-7 days in advance, especially during peak season (December through April). Same-day bookings are available based on availability. For groups or special occasions, booking further in advance ensures your preferred dates and times.
The Ultimate Package includes all three adventures: eFoil Adventure (90 min, $250 value), Seabob Adventure (60 min, $180 value), and E-bike Adventure (full day, $85 value). Total individual value is $515, but the package price is only $450 – saving you $65! All equipment, instruction, and safety gear included.
Yes! We offer special pricing for groups of 4+ people. Family packages (4 people) save $200, and larger groups (6+) save $115 per person. Perfect for bachelor/bachelorette parties, family reunions, corporate events, and team building activities. Call us for custom group pricing.
We accept cash, all major credit cards, and Venmo. Payment is typically required at the time of booking to secure your reservation. For group bookings, we can arrange payment plans or split payments among participants.
Yes! Gift certificates are available for all our adventures and packages. They make perfect gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or any special occasion. Gift certificates are valid for one year from purchase date and can be used for any of our services.
Yes, we understand plans change! Modifications and cancellations made 24+ hours in advance receive full credit or refund. Weather-related cancellations are always free to reschedule. For last-minute changes, please call us and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Safety & Requirements
eFoils: Ages 14+ (max weight 245lbs)
Seabobs: Ages 10+ (no weight limit)
All activities require basic swimming ability and comfort in water. Minors need adult supervision.
We provide all necessary safety equipment: life jackets for water activities, high-quality goggles for Seabobs. All equipment is regularly inspected and maintained to the highest standards.
Basic swimming ability is required for eFoil and Seabob adventures. You don’t need to be an expert swimmer, but you should be comfortable in water and able to swim a short distance. We provide life jackets and stay in areas where you can stand if needed.
All our instructors are trained in water safety and first aid. We carry emergency communication devices and have established protocols for various situations. Our locations are chosen for safety and accessibility to emergency services if needed.
Please inform us of any medical conditions, medications, or physical limitations when booking. While most people can safely enjoy our adventures, certain heart conditions, pregnancy, or severe mobility issues may require special consideration or prevent participation.
Weather & Cancellations
Safety is our top priority. We monitor weather and water conditions closely and will reschedule if conditions aren’t suitable. Weather-related cancellations receive full refund or free rescheduling with no penalties. We typically make weather decisions 2-4 hours before your scheduled adventure.
We cancel for lightning, severe storms, high winds (over 15 mph for eFoils), rough water conditions, or poor visibility. Light rain usually doesn’t cancel water activities since you’re getting wet anyway! For e-bikes, we cancel for heavy rain or severe weather.
We monitor weather continuously and aim to give as much notice as possible. Typically, we’ll contact you 2-4 hours before your adventure if conditions look questionable. For obvious severe weather, we may cancel further in advance.
Sarasota is beautiful year-round! Peak season (December-April) offers the most consistent weather but is busier. Summer months (May-September) can have afternoon thunderstorms but also fewer crowds and warmer water. Fall and spring offer great weather and moderate crowds.
Yes! We understand Florida weather can be unpredictable. Weather-related rescheduling is always free and can be done multiple times if needed. We’ll work with you to find suitable conditions and timing that works for your schedule.
